On World Organ Donation Day, November 27, 2013 an awareness session on Organ Donation and Transplantation was organized at LLB 1st year and BL 1st years students of Dr. Ambedkar Govt. Law College at Puducherry. The session was conducted by Mr. Ananth R, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation & Pondicherry Institute of Medical Science (PIMS) Hospital, Puducherry.
He covered the following topics: types of donors, natural death, brain death; causes of brain death; difference between natural death and brain death; difference between brain stem death and coma; organs that can be donated, the number of hours the various organs can be preserved before transplantation; importance of the donor card, MOHAN Foundation Activities.
There were a total of 120 students who participated in the sessions. 37 students picked up a donor card and brochures.
