On June 30, 2026, MOHAN Foundation was invited by C L Gupta Eye Bank and Punjabi Helpline Trust, Moradabad for an awareness talk on organ donation at Hotel Raj Mahal in Moradabad. Mr. Sanchit Arora, Project Leader at MOHAN Foundation stationed at AIIMS Rishikesh, was the speaker for the talk. The invitation was extended by Mr. Gurvinder Singh, Secretary, C L Gupta Institute and Eye Bank and Mr. Kamal Dhingra, Founder President, Punjabi Helpline Trust and a social worker in Moradabad.
C.L. Gupta Eye Institute's Eye Institute plays a vital role in restoring sight through the collection, preservation, and transplantation of donated corneas. Operating with round-the-clock retrieval services and supported by advanced infrastructure, the eye bank promotes voluntary eye donation, coordinates with donor families and hospitals, and ensures ethical, quality-driven tissue retrieval and utilization. In addition, the eye bank actively conducts public awareness programs, encourages eye donation pledges, and works closely with healthcare professionals and community organizations to strengthen the corneal donation movement.
The session commenced with Sanchit inviting participants to share their knowledge about organ donation. He then elaborated on the status of organ donation in India, covering various topics in detail:
* What is organ donation, and why is it important to donate organs?
* Who can be an organ donor?
* Explanation of live and deceased donors
* Organ donation during life and after death
* Brain death
* Differences between coma and brain death
* Eye donation and steps required to preserve corneas after death
* Transplantation of Human Organs & Tissues Act, (THOTA) 1994
* Role of the MOHAN Foundation
* What an individual can do to contribute to this noble cause
* Objectives and initiatives of MOHAN Foundation, including the Anudaan initiative
Mr. Sanchit concluded the session by highlighting the urgent need for organ donation in India and encouraged the participants to discuss the subject with their families, friends, and colleagues before making their decision to pledge. He also recommended watching the film Aye Zindagi on Zee5 or YouTube for further insight into the emotional impact of organ donation.
Overall, the session was highly interactive, with participants enthusiastically contributing to the discussion and posing numerous queries. Some of the questions raised during the session included:

* What is the permissible time frame for corneal donation after circulatory death?
* What is the procedure for whole-body donation?
* Is there a specific time allocated for the retrieval of organs and tissues?
* How is the allocation of organs done by government and private hospitals?
* How can someone pledge for organ donation?
The program ended with participants applauding the efforts of MOHAN Foundation and expressing their willingness to speak with their families about pledging their organs.
The session was attended by 25 participants and two participants pledged to donate their organs on the official NOTTO website.
