Policy Overview
At MOHAN Foundation, we are committed to fostering an environment of fairness, respect, and inclusivity. Our Equal Treatment Policy ensures that every individual - whether a team member, online member, or e-learning participant - is treated with dignity, respect and provided equal opportunities to learn, contribute, and grow. This policy reinforces our belief that diversity and equality are central to building a supportive and impactful community.
Scope of the Policy
In order to promote and maintain equality of opportunity and eliminate discrimination, MOHAN Foundation is committed to the following principles:
- All employees, members, volunteers, and learners in our online training programs are treated fairly, with dignity and respect.
- Everyone has the right to work and learn in an environment free from discrimination.
- Harassment, victimisation, bullying, or any other form of unwanted behaviour will not be tolerated.
- No individual will be disadvantaged by conditions, requirements, or practices that cannot be objectively justified.
- Decisions relating to recruitment, selection, development, and promotion are based solely on individual ability and merit.
- Every employee is given an equal opportunity to contribute and achieve their potential.
- Information and training will be provided, as required, to ensure discrimination, harassment, victimisation, and bullying are avoided, and the provisions of this policy are fully upheld.
- Support will be extended to employees who hold responsibility for ensuring compliance with this policy and for addressing any complaints that may arise.
Discrimination: Treating a person unfairly or less favourably because of characteristics such as age, gender, race, religion, disability, or any other protected status.
Unwanted Behaviour: Any action, remark, or conduct that is unwelcome and causes discomfort, distress, or offence to another person.
Harassment: Unwanted conductverbal, physical, or non-verbalthat violates a persons dignity or creates an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating, or offensive environment.
Victimisation: Treating someone unfairly because they have made, or are believed to have made, a complaint or raised concerns about discrimination, harassment, or other unfair practices.
Bullying: Repeated, offensive, intimidating, or malicious behaviour intended to undermine, humiliate, or harm another individual, often exploiting a power imbalance.
Training and Development: The designated officer and management will receive appropriate orientation and training on this policy. The designated officer will be provided with sufficient resources and autonomy to carry out their responsibilities effectively, without compromise.
Handling Complaints of Discrimination
All complaints raised will be carefully considered by the management. A designated officer will be appointed to review such complaints and guide employees through the process.
If an employee experiences harassment, bullying, or discrimination at work, they may choose to address the matter informally at first with the designated officer. If the issue cannot be resolved informally, the complainant has the right to pursue the complaint formally with the management. The designated officer will discuss the matter with the complainant and agree on an appropriate course of action. The alleged harasser will also be given an opportunity to present their version of events to the designated officer or management.
Complainants are assured that they will not face discrimination or victimisation for raising a complaint in good faith. However, false allegations may be treated as a disciplinary offence. Confidentiality will be maintained wherever possible. In some cases - particularly where allegations are serious or require investigation - confidentiality cannot be guaranteed.
MOHAN Foundation is committed to ensuring that this policy is effectively implemented and that all employees, members, volunteers, and learners are fully informed about its provisions. MOHAN Foundation reserves the right to amend or update this policy from time to time.
