Through their exchange grant, I had the privilege of undergoing a comprehensive 6-month training program at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire, NHS, UK. This training not only enhanced my surgical capabilities but also instilled in me invaluable insights into the nuances of transplant procedures, ensuring the highest standards of care for our patients.
MOHAN Foundation's efforts extended beyond skill development; they played a crucial role in raising awareness about organ donation and transplantation within our community. Through various workshops and engagement activities, they empowered individuals with knowledge, dispelled myths, and fostered a culture of organ donation—a fundamental pillar for sustaining transplant programs.
The impact of MOHAN Foundation's collaboration reverberates through every successful transplant conducted at JNIMS. Lives have been transformed, hope has been restored, all thanks to their unwavering commitment to advancing healthcare. We are immensely grateful for their partnership and look forward to continued collaboration in our journey towards a healthier, brighter future for all.

My journey into the field of transplantation began in 2014, starting as a physician assistant and research officer at Gleneagles Global Hospital in Chennai, where I primarily worked with liver transplant patients. Witnessing patients succumb while waiting for a deceased organ donor deeply affected me, prompting a shift in my focus from clinical science to public health.
During my MPH program at JIPMER, I conducted both quantitative and qualitative research on organ donation to better understand intentions regarding deceased organ donation. My four-month internship at the MOHAN Foundation provided me with an excellent platform to engage with the community and delve into research work. With their support, I pursued my PhD under the supervision of Prof. Gurch Randhawa, in collaboration with the MOHAN Foundation.
My PhD research focused on identifying barriers and facilitators to deceased organ donation among the general public and stakeholders in India. This included an integrative systematic review, for which I received the Young Investigator Award from the Congress of Asian Society of Transplantation. I conducted twenty-five focus group discussions across different regions of India and in-depth interviews with transplant coordinators. All publications resulting from this research will be submitted to the MOHAN Foundation for advocacy purposes.
I eagerly look forward to staying connected with the MOHAN Foundation and offering my assistance in advancing their mission of saving lives through organ donation in India. I highly recommend the MOHAN Foundation as an exceptional nonprofit organization for future interns passionate about organ donation and committed to fostering an environment conducive to informed decisions regarding organ donation.
