MOHAN Foundation Conducted Workshop on “The Art of Making the Ask – Grief Counselling & Organ Donation” at Wadia Hospital

  • Ms. Jaya Jairam conducted an interactive workshop titled “The Art of Making the Ask – Grief Counselling & Organ Donation” at Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for Children on March 18, 2026.

    The workshop brought together around 45 participants, including ICU staff, nurses, palliative care professionals, and social workers. It focused on strengthening their capacity to navigate sensitive end-of-life conversations and approach families for organ donation with empathy and ethical clarity.

    Key topics covered included:

    • The psychology of grief counselling
    • Principles and timing of making the ask for organ donation
    • The “Right & Wrong Approach” through film-based discussions
    • Role-play exercises simulating real-life scenarios
    • Open Q&A and reflective discussions

    The session was highly interactive, combining practical tools with real-world insights to build confidence among healthcare professionals in handling emotionally complex situations. It emphasized a family-centred, trust-based approach where consent is informed, voluntary, and rooted in compassionate communication
