Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at UPHC Mantripukhri

  • On June 9, 2026, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness talk on organ donation at the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Mantripukhri, Imphal East, Manipur. The session was conducted by Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Imphal and she was accompanied by Mr. Elangbam Paringanba Singh, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Imphal.

     

    The session was organized in coordination with Mr. Kiran, Program Head, Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (AYUSH). The session was conducted as part of the initiative A Decade of Promoting Safe Motherhood under the National Health Mission.

     

    Ms. Priya commenced the session by discussing the current status of organ donation and transplantation in the state. She highlighted the government and private hospitals where transplant procedures are being successfully performed. Providing a detailed explanation of deceased organ donation, she helped participants understand its significance and process. She also emphasized that the buying and selling of organs is illegal and punishable by law. Addressing common misconceptions, she reassured participants that organ donation does not cause any disfigurement and that the dignity and respect of donors are always maintained. Furthermore, she highlighted that a single donor can save multiple lives, making organ donation one of the most meaningful and valuable contributions to humanity.

     

    At the conclusion of the session, participants were encouraged to pledge for organ donation. They were also informed about the toll-free helpline and the contact numbers of the Manipur office for any queries or assistance related to organ donation.

     

    Information pamphlets on organ donation were distributed to participants. Close to 25 participants were reached out during the session.
