On June 29 and 30, 2026, RYA Cosmo Foundation Hospital, Otteri and MOHAN Foundation, organized a two-day awareness campaign on organ and tissue donation at the hospital's Outpatient Department (OPD). MOHAN Foundation served as the knowledge partner for the initiative.
An information desk was set up from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM on both days to educate patients, attendants, and hospital staff about the importance of organ and tissue donation. Green ribbons and educational brochures on organ and tissue donation were distributed to visitors.
Ms. Nivedha, Intern, and Ms. Kanishka, Project Executive, from MOHAN Foundation interacted with the public and clarified their queries on organ and tissue donation. Ms. Kanishka also created awareness on cornea donation by explaining the eye donation process, the procedure for contacting an eye bank, and the simple precautions that family members can take after death to facilitate successful cornea retrieval.
To reinforce the awareness campaign, informational posters on cornea donation were displayed on the notice boards on every floor of the hospital. The posters highlighted key facts about eye donation, eligibility criteria, and the importance of informing family members about the decision to donate, thereby reaching patients, attendants, and hospital staff throughout the hospital.
The awareness campaign sensitized around 90 individuals, and 6 people came forward to pledge their corneas, demonstrating their willingness to support the gift of sight.
MOHAN Foundation expresses its sincere gratitude to RYA Cosmo Foundation Hospital for providing the opportunity to conduct the awareness programme. Special thanks are extended to Mr. Vinod Bhutoria, Manager, for his valuable coordination and hospitality, which contributed to the smooth conduct of the campaign.
