  • On March 25, 2026, an organ donation awareness session was conducted at Lokamanya Tilak College, Koparkhairane, Navi Mumbai to educate students about the importance of organ donation and its life-saving impact. The session aimed to create awareness among young people and encourage them to develop a positive and informed outlook towards organ donation.

The session was led by Ms. Sakshi, who spoke in a clear and engaging manner on various important aspects of organ donation. She explained key concepts such as brain death and cardiac death, helping the students understand the difference between the two and their relevance in the donation process. She also discussed the age criteria for organ donation, emphasizing that medical suitability and the condition of organs are more important than age alone.

During the session, Ms. Sakshi highlighted the urgent need to spread awareness about organ donation in society and explained how one donor can save or improve the lives of several patients in need of transplants. She encouraged the students to become responsible ambassadors of this cause by discussing it with their families, friends, and communities.

To make the session more relatable and meaningful, she also suggested that the students watch the movie Aye Zindagi, which is based on the theme of organ donation, and informed them that it is available free on YouTube. This recommendation added an emotional and practical dimension to the session, helping students connect more deeply with the subject.

The session was interactive, and the students participated actively by asking thoughtful questions. Some of the questions raised during the session included:

    1. Can organs be donated only after brain death, or is donation possible after cardiac death as well?
    2. Is there any age limit for a person who wishes to donate organs?

These questions reflected the curiosity and genuine interest of the students. Ms. Sakshi responded to them in a simple and informative manner, which helped clarify common doubts and improved their understanding of the topic.

Overall, the session was informative, engaging, and impactful. It successfully created awareness among the students about the importance of organ donation and encouraged them to think about how this noble act can help save lives. Around 100 students attended the session.
