Artemis Health Institute in partnership with MOHAN Foundation organized a "Walk for Organ donation" powered by the NGO "Run with me" on the August 09, 2014 in Gurgaon. The walk which was flagged off at 0600 hrs from the Artemis Health Institute Gurgaon ended at the Botanical Gardens, Gurgaon where the participants assembled in a gathering to raise a few slogans and show their support for the noble cause. The walking brigade returned to the starting point at 0700 hrs and the entire distance covered was estimated to be approximately 5 kms.
MOHAN Foundation was the Event partner. Ms. Pallavi Kumar and Ms Deepa Anant participated on behalf of the Foundation and walked the entire distance. Online registrations for the walk had been announced many days prior to the actual event and the response was electric both online and at the actual event. There was a large turnout of doctors from Artemis Health institute and the rest of the participants comprised of school children, the majority being from Delhi Public School, Sector 45, Gurgaon. There were also students representing a local NGO.
The atmosphere was driven by the enthusiasm and effervescence of the participants who walked and ran with the singular sense of purpose of sensitizing more people about organ donations. The event did not cause much disruption of vehicular traffic though permits were taken in anticipation of the same.
In totality the number of participants who walked for the cause could be approximated to a figure of 350 where there were 280 adults and 70 children. All the participants were given a cap and a goodie bag which had pamphlets on FAQs about Organ donations and Transplants. 400 donor cards were taken from MOHAN Foundation for the event and distributed among the participants.
