Students of University College of Engineering learn about deceased organ donation

  • As a part of technical and cultural fest University College of Engineering, Trivandrum, organized an awareness programme on deceased donor organ donation and transplantation for the young engineers and for their faculty on 20th February 2014. The programme was held in the  seminar hall at the university campus, Karyavattam.

     

    One hundred and fifty students and thirty faculty attended the session. The session started with a Welcome Addressed by Mr. Harikumar, Head of the Department, Electronics and Communication, University College of Engineering. It was followed by a presentation given by Mr. Aneesh P V, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, deputed to Mrithasanjeevani, Kerala on the Concept of Organ Donation. 

     

    He explained the concepts of brain death, difference between natural death and brain death, live and deceased donors and organs and tissues that can be donated, Mrithasanjeevani and the importance of Donor Card.  the role of Transplant Coordinators. 

     

    At end of the session 80% students picked up the donor and the session came to end by Vote of thanks given by Mr. Rajendran, Principal, University college of Engineering.
