
On 21 January, 2014 an sensitization program on deceased donor organ transplantation was organized for the nursing staff from Government Medical College Hospital Trivandrum (GMCT). The programme started with a welcome speech delivered by Ms. Pushpa, Nusing programme coordinator GMCT. The programme held at Nursing Office hall of GMCT.
Mr. Aneesh P. V. Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation deputed to Mrithasanjeevani, Kerala conducted the session. In his talk he covered following topics: The role of Mrithasanjeevani, THO Act 1994, importance of organ donation, types of donations – live and deceased donation; difference between coma, cardiac death and brain death, early signs of brain death, preservation time of organs, Donor card, KNOS website and role of nurses in brain death donation.
There were totally 30 staff nurses, 6 head nurses, attending the session. All the participants picked the donor card.
