As a curtain raiser to a Walkathon on Organ Donation by the students of AMM School, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness talk for the students of classes X, XI and XII on 26th Sept 2019. The school is celebrating World Elders Day with a family walkathon and cycle rally for good health on 28th Sept 2019. Organ donation sensitization would be a part of the World Elders Day celebration in the school.
Dr. Hemal Kanvinde was deputed to conduct the session. Around 310 students attended the session with their teachers. Dr. Hemal first played a video of a recipient sharing experience to get the students to think about the Gift of Life. This was followed by a talk on the concepts of organ donation which included a film on brain death. A quiz on human body was then administered, which the students thoroughly enjoyed. The session ended with a short video of Ms. Shreya, Asia’s first double hand transplant recipient and world’s first female to receive male hands, speaking about her experience.
The students promised to take the message of organ donation to their families and request them to visit the information desk on World Elders Day. MOHAN Foundation thanks the AMM Foundation and the school for this opportunity.
