Sensitization programme on Organ Donation conducted for ICICI Academy, Gandhibagh, Nagpur

  • On 9th November 2022, Transplants Help The Poor Foundation and ICICI Foundation organized a talk on organ donation for ICICI Academy students (1st Batch). Mrs. Shushmita Chuckerbutty - Center Head of this academy coordinated with Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi to conduct this talk.

    Ms. Prarthana introduced herself and MOHAN Foundation and discussed the below topics about organ donation:

    • Organ  donation and its need in the society
    • When and how does organ donation take place
    • Organs that can be donated during life and after death
    • Transplant waiting list in India
    • Concept of Brain death and Circulatory death
    • Difference between brain death and coma
    • Eye and skin donation process

     

     Over all the session was very interactive where participants enthusiastically contributed to the discussion and asked many queries. To name a few: 

     

    1. What is the procedure of Eye Donation?

    2. Can a diabetic patient donate corneas?

     

    Participants actively participated in the session and expressed their views and opinions about organ donation. The session motivated 18 participants to pledge their organs. Close to 127 participants participated in the event.

    We thank Mrs. Shushmita Chuckerbutty for organizing this session and supporting the noble cause of organ donation.
