




A sensitisation programme for nurses and general staff was conducted by MOHAN Foundation, Chennai at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH), Chennai on 30th July, 2013. The participants were from the following units: hospital office, blood bank, matron office. Mr. Ananth R, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai conducted the session. He addressed the following topics: what is organ donation, who can be a donor, what is brain death, difference between brain death and coma, about cornea donation and what is a donor card.
There was a Question and Answer. The following questions were raised: what is the procedure for organ donation, what are the organs and tissues that can be donated, the time involved in the removal and transplantation of organs, which organ is removed first and how many times can a person undergo transplantation.
There were 64 participants at the event and all of them pledged their organs by signing the donor card.
