Public Education Stall on Organ Donation at Custom House, Chennai

  • On 8th October, 2013 a public education stall on organ donation was set up at the Custom House, Rajaji Salai, Chennai by MOHAN Foundation. Lions Club of Chennai took the initiative to invite the Foundation to set up the stall. Lions Club International celebrates its birth on October 6th. It is popularly known as ‘World Lions Service Day’ and every club in their worldwide association will plan activities in October to bring out the spirit of Lionism.

     

    Mr. Prakash K, Transpant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation manned the stall. In his interaction with the visitors he spoke about: activities of MOHAN Foundation across the country to strengthen the Deceased Organ Donation programme; Types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation; importance of the consent from the family for organ donation to take place; difference between brain death, coma and natural death; and the importance of the donor card.

     

    The visitors asked several doubts which were clarified. Totally 17 people picked the donor card.
