Patients and Visitors of Super Specialty Hospital, Nagpur learn about Organ Donation

  • On 25th May 2019, MOHAN Foundation was invited to the Super Specialty Hospital, Nagpur, to setup an awareness stall and speak about organ donation to the outpatients. Dr. Milind Phulpatil, the Special Duty In-charge of Super Specialty Hospital extended the invitation. The stall was equipped with information brochures, donor cards, standees and banners. Mr. Bulu Behera, Transplant Coordinator managed the stall.

    The following information was given to the outpatients visiting the hospital:

    • Types of death
    • Organs and tissues that can be donated following brain death, natural death and while living
    • Where is waitlist for organ failure patients available and how to register in it
    • Who can donate organs and the value of donor card
    • Activities of MOHAN Foundation
    • Helpline number and MOHAN Foundation’s website

    Around 30 patients and their relatives visited the stall. After understanding about organ donation, 10 patients and relatives collected consent forms and 2 patients signed consent forms and received donor cards and few others mentioned they will sign consent forms after discussing with their family.

    A few questions asked by the stall visitors:

    • Whom to contact for organ donation after brain death?
    • Whom to contact for eye donation?
    • What is bone marrow?
