Organ Donation Talk for the NSS Volunteers of a Women’s College in Chennai

  • On 11th September 2015, Dr. MGR-Janaki College of Arts and Science for Women, National Service Scheme (NSS), Chennai initiated a sensitization programme for their students. Mrs. Anitha Bai.T, Asst Professor, NSS cell Coordinator invited MOHAN Foundation to give an awareness talk on Organ Donation.

    The programme began with a welcome address by the NSS cell coordinator and Mr. Prakash K. spoke about the Concepts of Organ Donation.

    The following topics were covered during the talk:

    • Activities of MOHAN Foundation across the country to strengthen the Deceased Organ Donation  programme.
    • Types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation
    • Difference between Brain death and Coma
    • Importance of the consent from  the family
    • Importance of  Donor card 
    • Tissues and organs  that can be donated
    • Transplant Coordinators Training Programme
    • Shown few documentary films on organ donation 

     

    Soon after the programme the transplant coordinator displayed an information stall near the auditorium. Totally 420 Staff and students participated in the talk and all of them picked donor card and supported the cause.
