An Awareness Programme on Organ Donation at Navalur

  Mr.Prakash K, Explaining the concept of Organ Donation

  On 12^th August 2015, T S Narayanasami Arts & Science, College Department of Biochemistry, Navalur, Chennai conducted an awareness programme for their students on Organ Donation. Mrs. T. Lalithasree, Assistant Professor to give an awareness talk on Organ Donation. The programme began with a welcome address by the Principal and she explained the importance of event and encouraged the students to support the noble cause.

   

  Mr. Prakash K. Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation facilitated and spoke about the Concepts of Organ Donation.

  The following topics were covered in his talk:

  • Activities of MOHAN Foundation across the country to strengthen the Deceased Organ Donation programme
  • Tissues and organs  that can be donated
  • Types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation
  • Difference between Brain Death and Coma
  • Importance of the consent from family
  • Importance of Donor card 
  • Helpline Number  and website as additional sources of information
  • Few short films were shown

   

  Totally 20 staff and 150 students participated and supported the noble cause and all of then took donor cards.
