Organ Donation Awareness session held for General Public near Erandwane Bridge, Pune

  • On 22nd June 2021, Organ Donation Awareness Program was conducted for General Public near Erandwane Bridge, Pune. The session was organized Mr Jagdish Borude (Transplant coordinator, MOHAN foundation) along with Medical social worker Ms Sangeeta Jadhav. 

    Mr Jagdish introduced MOHAN Foundation as an NGO working passionately for deceased organ donation past 23 years. She explained the difference between Cardiac Death & Brain Death in-depth. Then he elaborated about the organs & tissues that can be donated by both the cases. He also introduced the public about new advances like Hand Donation. She explained about tissue donation (skin, eyes & bones).She then discussed about Organ Donations that can happen in case of Brain Dead case and number of lives that can be saved by giving the examples of successful transplant stories articles and news about green corridor. He then discussed about Myths around Organ donation that most families of deceased donor have and how to debunk them by explaining relevant facts.

    Lastly Mr Jagdish described the importance of discussing about Organ Donation within the family and to carry Donor Card always in purse or wallet. About 29 people attended session and and the gathering was invited for volunteering program.

    We thank Ms Sangeeta Jadhav and other Social Worker Students for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
