Organ Donation Awareness for Students of International Institute of Information Technology, Pune

  • On July 1st, 2021 the International Institute of Information Technology, Pune organised a webinar on organ donation – How can you Save Lives and Internship Opportunities at MOHAN Foundation. Around 80 students pursuing Bachelors of Technology at I2IT, attended the session. The speakers were Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Quality Assurance Officer and Dr. Sunil Shroff, Managing Trustee of MOHAN Foundation. The interaction was coordinated by Dr. Sandeep Patil, Associate Professor at the Computer Engineering Department of the institute. 

    Dr. Patil introduced the speakers, following which a short movie showcasing the technological innovations done by the Foundation was played. Concepts of organ donation by Dr. Hemal was next in the agenda. She gave the students an idea of what, how, why and when organ donation is done. Brain death was explained and a number of myths were busted. She also explained the process of applying for internships and highlighted the salient features of the Foundation's internship programme by citing examples of the work done by former interns. 

    Dr. Sunil Shroff elaborated on what he expected from the students and the skills that were needed for the tasks that would be allotted to them. The interaction came to an end after a short Q&A session. MOHAN Foundation thanked the institute for organising the session.
