Organ Donation Awareness Program conducted for Residents of Dharmraj Vasti, Pune

  • On 25th June 2021, MOHAN Foundation conducted Organ Donation Awareness Program at Dharmraj Vasti, Pune. The session was organized with the help of Mrs Jyoti Pitai, the chairperson from ' Shodh ' Foundation, Manjari, Pune.

    Mr Jagdish Borude introduced MOHAN Foundation as an NGO working passionately for deceased organ donation past 23 years. She then gave information about living and deceased donors (circulatory death and brain death), brain death and its causes and how a brain dead person can save the lives of 8 others by donating his/her organs and improve the lives of as many as 50 people by donating tissues. The basics of organ donation were covered in session and people were encouraged to donate organs after cardiac death and brain death. Importance of organ donation, need of organ donation, current scenario and statistics in India for organ donation was narrated to people.

    After the session, people were asked if they have any questions. One lady from audience wanted to donate her body after her death; she wanted to know the process. The process was elaborated by Mr Jagdish. Gathering asked various questions about heath conditions and current situation of COVID Pandemic. Various people asked questions related to vaccination also which were promptly answered. At the end of the session information about the toll-free organ donation helpline (1800 103 7100) was also shared. Around 39 participants were present.
