Organ Donation Awareness at Tirpude Nursing College, Nagpur

  • On 9th November 2019, MOHAN Foundation and Transplants – Help the Poor Foundation were invited by Dr. Kirti.Tambe of Tirpude Nursing College, Nagpur to deliver an awareness talk on Organ Donation for their Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM) and General Nurse Midwifery (GNM) students.

    Dr. Kirti.Tambe, the Principal of the college addressed the gathering and gave a brief introduction on organ donation to the participants.

    Ms. Prarthana.Dwivedi introduced herself to the students and started by asking them if they know of the organs that can be donated while living. Most of the students were aware about kidney transplant and blood donation.

    Participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death

    In this talk Prarthana explained the following points:

    • Organ Donation in India and its requirement  
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Real life stories of organ donation and transplantation
    • Importance of the Donor card 
    • How to pledge their organs and registering at MOHAN Foundation
    • MOHAN Foundation’s mission and vision

    Around 70 students and 11 teachers participated in the programme. About 20 pledges were taken and few were filled online. The entire group got motivated and convinced to support organ donation. The awareness talk was ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Kirti.Tambe who encouraged the students to spread awareness in the society about organ donation and also to share their wish with their families.
