Organ Donation Awareness at Super Specialty Hospital, Nagpur

  • On 25th June 2021, MOHAN Foundation delivered an awareness talk on organ donation at the Super Specialty Hospital, Nagpur. Nursing in-charges from the Department of Nephrology were the audience during the talk.

    Dr. C P Bawankule, Head of Department of Nephrology invited Mr. Bulu Behera, Transplant Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation to address the group. Dr. Bawankule introduced the topic and the speaker to the audience, following which Mr. Behera explained the following:

    • What is organ donation?
    • What is natural death and brain death?
    • What is the eye donation process?
    • What is the body donation process?
    • Causes of Brain death
    • Whom to contact for organ donation?
    • The THO Act 1994
    • Role of Zonal Transplant Coordination Center (ZTCC) in organ donation
    • MOHAN Foundation’s activities, using its website and Help Line number

    Questions asked by participants:

    • What is the difference between coma and brain death?
    • Whom to contact for organ donation after death?
    • Who is the head of the MOHAN Foundation?

    Around 18 nursing in-charges were present at the event and 10 of them pledge to be organ donors.
    Dr. Bawankule thanked MOHAN Foundation and the participants as the event came to close.
