A Youth Convention and Leadership Programme was organised in Sacred Heart Syro Malabar Church, Keelikattalai on 8th December 2013. Mr. Kuriakose of the organising committee invited MOHAN Foundation to give a talk on organ donation. On behalf of MOHAN Foundation, Ms. A. T. Sunitha, Transplant Coordinator gave a talk on organ donation and the role of youth in supporting the good cause .
The programme started with a welcome address given by Fr. Nijo John Pallai, Parish Priest. He mentioned that he supports organ donation and is going to pledge with a donor card. Later Mr. Sebastian, Resource Person, started the session on empowerment of youth. After that Ms. Sunitha, spoke on the concept of organ donation and also covered following topics: importance of organ donation, types of donations – live and deceased donation; difference between coma, cardiac death and brain death, organs that can be donated, preservation time of organs, donor card and activities of MOHAN Foundation.
At the end of the programme Fr.Nijo John Pallai requested Ms. Sunitha to conduct an awareness programme in St.Camillus Syro Malabar church on 15th December 2013 at 09.30 am. More than 200 youth participated in the programme and all of them took a pledge and picked donor cards. Finally the vote of thanks was given by Mr.Kuriakose.
