MOHAN Foundation sets up an Organ Donation Information Stall at a Blood Donation Camp

• On the occasion of their  3^rd anniversary, Mother Medicals, Poonamallee, Chennai organized  a Blood donation camp and Organ Donation Information Camp. On 8 ^thDecember 2013, they invited MOHAN Foundation to place an organ donation information stall. Mr. Ashok .R, Trainee Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai manned the stall and the awareness talk was given to organizers in blood donation camp.

   The following topics were explained to the volunteers & the organizers.

  • Role of MOHAN Foundation
  • Difference between Natural death & Brain death
  • Importance of organ donation
  • Age to donate organs
  • Procedure  of eye removal after cardiac death
  •  Importance  of donor card

  Some people were interested to visit the stall and asked about organ donation. Transplant coordinator called the  public and explained about organ donation.  50 of them picked  a donor card.  Many of them had no knowledge about brain death/organ donation and so they were made aware.
