



On 3rd December, 2013 an awareness session on organ donation and transplantation was organized at Sharon Society of Pondicherry and Immaculate College of Education for Women. The session was conducted by Mr. Ananth. R, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation & Pondicherry Institute of Medical Science (PIMS) Hospital,Puducherry. Mrs. Deychi and Mr. Mohan coordinated this awareness programme
In his talk Mr Ananth covered the following topics:
Types of donors,
brain death,
difference between natural death and brain death,
difference between brain stem death and coma,
organs that can be donated,
the number of hours the various organs can be preserved before transplantation,
and the importance of the donor card,
role of Staff nurse and Transplant Coordinator,
MOHAN Foundation Activities namely Transplant coordinators training programme and Grief counseling Skills, Publications, Network, Public education,

There were a total of 128 students who participated in the session. 79 of them picked up a donor card and information brochure.
