Organ Donation Awareness Talk at KLE Nursing College, Gokak, Belgaum

  • On 4th June 2019, Mr. Anand, Principal, KLE Nursing College invited MOHAN Foundation to organize an awareness programme to their 1st & 02nd year students at Gokak, Belgaum.

    MOHAN Foundation was represented by Project Manager – Ms. Ranjini Shankar MS & Transplant Co-ordinators Ms. Hemavathi B N & Ms. Sheetal Mudada.

    The following topics were discussed in detail:

    • Introduction about MOHAN Foundation
    • Brain Stem Death
    • Circulatory Death
    • Apnea Test
    • Importance of time factor in organ transplant
    • Jeevasarthakathe and its role
    • Organ allocation system in Karnataka
    • The Burden of Organ failure & need for organ donation
    • Importance of a Donor Card

    During the interaction, the audience raised the following questions:

    • Important of Time Factor in organ transplant
    • Any Financial transaction
    • Green Corridor
    • Importance of Ventilator
    • Brain Stem Death Certification Process
    • Necessary for Family Consent

    Around 45 students attended the programme. After understanding the organ donation facts, a few expressed their wish to pledge for organ donation.
