Awareness Session on Organ Donation at Indian Medical Association, Nipani, Belgaum

  • On 3rd June 2019, Indian Medical Association (IMA) President Dr. Prashanth Athani, Ortho Surgeon, had invited MOHAN Foundation to organize an awareness programme to the public & doctors as well at the Jogger’s Club in Nipani, Belgaum, at IMA Hall.

    MOHAN Foundation was represented by Project Manager – Ms. Ranjini Shankar MS & Transplant Co-ordinators Ms. Hemavathi B N & Ms. Sheetal Mudada.

    The following topics were discussed in detail:

    • Introduction about MOHAN Foundation
    • Brain Stem Death
    • Circulatory Death
    • Jeevasarthakathe and its role
    • Organ allocation system in Karnataka
    • The Burden of Organ failure & need for organ donation
    • Importance of a Donor Card

    During the interaction, the audience raised the following questions:

    • Consent Forms
    • Green Corridor
    • What are the criteria to be a donor
    • Brain Stem Death Certification Process

    Around 40 members attended the programme. After understanding the organ donation facts, a few expressed their wish to pledge for organ donation.
