Organ Donation Awareness Talk at Intensive Renal Care Unit of Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital

  • Intensive Renal Care Unit Staff Nurse requested   MOHAN Foundation to give a talk on organ donation to the nursing students. Ms. Sunitha A. T, Mr. Prakash K. and Mr. Jeyabal M,Transplant coordinators, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on Organ Donation.

     

    Nursing Students in the Nephrology Ward of RGGGH attended the session. Mr. Prakash K.  delivered the talk on Organ Donation. In his session, he covered the following topics.

    • What is Natural Death and what is Brain Death?
    • Which organs and the tissues can be donated after Brain Death?
    • Certification of brain death.
    • Importance of grief counselling.
    • Role of nurses
    • Transplant coordinator training programme
    • Importance of Donor Card

     

    At the end of the session, Students raised queries like,

    • How the transplant coordinators coordinate the case on brain death?
    • What is the role of Transplant coordinator?

    All the queries cleared by the transplant coordinators. At the end, all of the 15  student nurses picked the donor card.
