Organ Donation Awareness Stall setup as part of Ganesh Utsav in Akola

  • MOHAN Foundation, in association with the Vipra Yuva Vahini Ganesh Utsav Mandal, organised an awareness programme on organ donation at Bahate Maidan in Akola, Maharashtra from 2nd September 2019 to 12th September 2019. An awareness stall was setup in coordination with Dr. Priya Sharma, the organizer of the programme.

    Dr. Priya Sharma, the doctor of a primary health center gave information about organ donation and why and when an organ transplant is required. She also spoke about the various organs that can be donated, type of donors and types of death and elaborated on what natural death and brain death are. Information about eye donation and body donation was also shared.

    Around fifteen thousand public visited the stall and 10 of them signed consent forms and received donor cards. A few of them picked up consent forms to have discussions with their families.

    Visitors asked the following few questions:

    • What is the time duration for a liver transplant?
    • How to register as an organ donor online?
    • What is the age limit for organ donation?

    Dr. Priya Sharma answered all the queries and thanked all visitors as well as MOHAN Foundation for the noble work.
