On 9th October 2019, MOHAN Foundation Imphal conducted an awareness programme on organ donation at Kongba Makha Nandeibam Leikai, a NGO. Around 38 members were present at the programme.
Roma Devi, Transplant Coordinator from MOHAN Foundation, Imphal was the speaker. She spoke about the concepts of organ transplantation, organ donation and why it is required. She explained the necessity and importance of organ donation, types of donors and the difference between brain death and cardiac death or circulatory death. The organs and tissues that could be donated in case of both brain death and cardiac death were explained as well.
Roma also explained the significance of donor cards. Some participants wanted to know the process of registration and how organ donation happens. MOHAN Foundation is thankful to Kongba Makha Nandeibam Leikai for the opportunity.
