Organ Donation Awareness Session for Delhi Transport Corporation Employees

  • On April 13, 2026, MOHAN Foundation (MF), NCR conducted an organ donation awareness session for employees of the Delhi Transport Corporation. The Corporation Office is located at the Nand Nagari Depot Complex, Delhi.

     

    The session was organized by Ms. Simran Anand, Programme Officer at MOHAN Foundation NCR, who was also served as the resource person. She was accompanied by Ms. Anchal Sharma, Programme Officer, MF NCR.

     

    Ms. Simran began the session by asking the participants’ existing knowledge of organ donation. She then explained the status of organ donation in India and covered the basic concepts of organ donation and transplantation using a PowerPoint presentation. The concept of brain death was explained with the help of a short informative film. She also detailed the steps involved in brain death declaration and clarified the concept of legal death. Additionally, she explained who can become a donor and which organs can be donated.

     

    The session covered key topics including:

    • Status of organ donation in India.

    • The importance of organ donation.

    • Causes of brain death and the difference between brain death and coma.

    • Addressing common misconceptions related to organ donation.

    • The registration process for organ donation.

     

    At the end of the session, several participants approached Ms. Simran to enquire about changing their organ donor status from “No” to “Yes” on their driving licences. Participants whose driving licences did not include this option also expressed their interest in having the organ donor option added.

     

    A total of 75 employees attended the programme.
