On 7th July 2017, EGS Pillay college organized a campaign on organ donation with a rally. The rally was flagged off by Mr. Suresh Kumar, IAS, Collector, and Mr. Sekar Deshmuck Superintendent of Police Nagapattinam District. The Chairman, Secretary, Principal, Faculty from various departments led the rally. Mr Venkatesh, Transplant coordinator, Government Rajaji Medical College Madurai, explained the concept of organ donation to the dignitaries.
The event drew an enthusiastic participation from the college students. Students from EGS Pillay group of institutions like Pharmacy, Engineering, Arts & Science and the Polytechnic participated in the rally. Around 3500 students took part in the rally and expressed their support for the noble cause. The rally culminated at the Nagapattinam bus stand.
The chief guest Mr. Suresh Kumar inaugurated and signed on the donor card to show his support for organ donation. The SP Nagapattinam and other members of the Lions club took the pledge to be an organ donor.
