Awareness Session on Organ Donation at Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Regional Centre, Sector - 12, Chandigarh

  • On 11th July, 2017 MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mr Sanjeev Kumar, Program Assistant, Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Regional Centre Sector-12 Chandigarh to conduct an awareness session for NCC Cadets & NSS volunteers.

     

    This was part of a 5 day workshop on Disaster Management that was inaugurated by Col Rakesh Kundlas, Deputy Commander, NCC Group Chandigarh. Around 51 participants and 5 Instructors from Chandigarh, Punjab, Delhi, Haryana & Himachal Pradesh attended the session. 

     

    Participants were given an introduction & presentation on Organ Donation and Brain Death by Ms. Deepika Arora.

     

    The session covered topics like what is organ donation, types of donation, the difference between natural death & brain death, myths related to organ donation, how to take the pledge for organ donation.

     

    A 5-minute video on Brain Death was shown when the concept of brain death was being addressed. It was indeed an amazing session as participants asked various questions on organ donation.

     

    All the participants were highly motivated and said they will come forth to make it a success in their areas. All of them took donor card.
