  On March 19^th, 2012, MOHAN Foundation Bangalore organized an awareness programme on Organ Donation for the General, B.Sc and M.Sc Nursing students from Oxford Nursing College Bangalore.  The programme was designed to provide students with relevant information in a crisp 45-minute PowerPoint presentation. The information related to the following topics:

   

  • Organ Donation
  • Brain death
  • Legal formalities - Transplantation of Human Organs Act, 1994
  • Organ retrieval and transplantation process
  • Need for organ donations in the country
  • Role of nurses as transplant coordinators

   

  More than 280 budding nursing professionals who attended the programme pledged to donate their organs. They also took up the responsibility of being the ambassadors for this noble cause to educate other members of their profession.
