“World Kidney Day” is observed every year on the second Thursday of March. This year it fell on 8th March 2012. The slogan for this year's campaign was Donate - Kidneys for Life - Receive and it focused on the positive outcome of kidney transplantation and the life-saving aspect of organ donation.
Johnson & Johnson, Chennai observed the day by creating awareness on both these aspects. As part of their campaign, MOHAN Foundation was invited to set up an Organ Donation Awareness stall at their office. They had also arranged for a presentation on Kidney diseases and its prevention by Dr. Raja Magesh, Nephrologist, Apollo Hospitals. Dr. Magesh also spoke about organ donation and how it can reduce the number of people waiting for an organ transplant.
About 50 employees were sensitized on the concepts of Organ donation through the stall and all of them pledged for a Donor card.
