Organ Donation Awareness Program Successfully Engages Yacharam Police Personnel

  • A highly successful organ donation awareness program was conducted at the Yacharam Police Station on June 27, 2025. The session, led by Project Manager Mr. Venkatesh Kattela, was strategically integrated into their "Roll Call" assembly to ensure minimal disruption to essential duties.

    The initiative received strong endorsement from police leadership, with Inspector Nandheshwar, SI Madhu, and ACP K.V.P. Raju acknowledging Mohan Foundation's commendable efforts in promoting organ donation awareness. A visual display of organ donor cards proved particularly impactful, resonating well with the assembled personnel.

    The comprehensive discussion covered critical aspects of organ donation, including:

    • The definition and various types of organ donation.
    • The essential distinction between brain death and cardiac arrest.
    • The significance of carrying a donor card.
    • The procedural aspects of the consent process.
    • Common myths and misconceptions surrounding organ donation.
    • The pressing societal need for organ donation.

    Crucially, the session also highlighted the integral role of police personnel in medico-legal cases pertinent to organ donation. It was emphasized that as frontline public servants, their involvement is pivotal in facilitating these sensitive situations and educating the broader community on the importance of organ donation.

    The program garnered an enthusiastic response, with over 36 attendees, including various staff members, pledging to donate their organs. This engagement with law enforcement underscores a significant step in fostering organ donation awareness within critical public service sectors.
