  • An awareness programme on Organ and Eye Donation was conducted on 2nd August 2025 at Bhaarat College of Nursing, Selaiyur, Chennai. The session witnessed the participation of around 180 nursing students studying in 3rd and 4th year.

The programme began with an inspiring session by Mr. Hariharan Babu, who shared his personal recipient journey. His heartfelt narrative motivated the students and set a thoughtful tone for the rest of the session.

Following this, Dr. Hemal Kanvinde addressed the gathering and spoke in detail about the importance of organ donation, the concept of brain death, who can donate, and addressed several myths and facts surrounding organ donation. She also highlighted the role of transplant coordinators in facilitating the donation process.

To further enhance understanding, the students presented a role play on grief counselling, portraying the delicate communication required with donor families.

The second session was conducted by Ms. Sangeetha, who focused on corneal blindness and emphasized the importance of eye donation. She also discussed the precautions to be taken for healthy corneal donation and how timely eye donation can help restore vision. The session concluded with the screening of an awareness video on organ donation, reinforcing the key messages of the day.

MOHAN Foundation thanks the management of the College and the Principal  Dr Vasantha  for her support.
