MOHAN Foundation’s Marathon Man creates a record of awareness talk at Nagapattinam.

  • On 4th September 2015, E.G.S Pillay Engineering College Nagapattinam, conducted an Organ Donation Drive for their college students and Mr. Anand Babu, Principal, E.G.S. Pillay College of Pharmacy invited TRANSTAN (Transplant Authority of Tamil Nadu) to create awareness on Organ Donation.

    The programme began with a welcome address by Mr. S.Paramesvaran, Secretary, E.G.S Pillay Group of Institutions. He explained the importance of the event and mentioned that E.G.S Pillay Engineering College has been promoting organ donation every year. So this year they wanted to organize the event on the “Academic Achievers’ Day 2015” function.

    The Chief Guest of the event was Thiru S. Palanisamy I.A.S, District Collector, Collectorate Nagapattinam. Mr. Prakash K, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation Chennai participated in the programme and spoke about the Concepts of Organ Donation. He took back-to-back sessions in three different colleges.

    No of sessions:

    • 2 sessions at  E.G.S Pillay Engineering College
    • 17 sessions at E.G.S. Pillay Arts & Science College
    • 1 session at E.G.S. Pillay College of Pharmacy- 

    The following topics were covered in the presentation:

    • Types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation
    • Difference between Brain death and Coma
    • Importance of the consent from the family
    • Importance of Donor card 
    • Tissues and organs  that can be donated
    • Transplant Coordinators Training Programme
    • Activities of MOHAN  Foundation, website and helpline number

    Totally 3500 staff and students participated in the event, out of whom 3000 students pledged for the Donor Card and supported the noble cause of organ donation. At the end of the programme Prof. T.Ganesan, HOD/CSE gave the vote of thanks.
