Continuous Awareness Session organized by Chennai Mission Association at St. Peter’s Malabar Catholic Church, Avadi

  • The Chennai Mission Association of St. Peters’ Syro Malabar Catholic Church, Muthapudupet, Avadi, Chennai have organised a continuous awareness program on organ donation for their member churches and for their congregation. They invited MOHAN Foundation to deliver talk on 8th December 2013.

     

    The programme started with a welcome speech given by Mr. Francis, member of the parish, Mugappair, Chennai. Following that Ms. S. Kavitha, Marketing Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation delivered a talk on Organ Donation. Her talk concentrated to following topics: Concepts of Organ Donation, Types of Donors, Organs that can  be donated after natural and brain death, Importance of Donor Card, Statistics of organ donation for  Tamilnadu and Kerala, Toll free helpline number.

     

    She ended her talk by sharing few real stories, by which the whole group was moved. After the session few participants raised queries like:

     

    How to register for transplantation at Kerala?

    How does this Organ Donation work?

     

    Queries were clarified. Mr. Sebastin, member of Syro Malabar Catholic Church, Muthapudupet, Avadi, Chennai announced that the next awareness session will be held at Christ King Church, Keezhkattalai, Chennai  on 19th January  2014. Nearly 50 people attended the session and all promised to take this message home and join hands for noble cause.
