On December 29, 2025, MOHAN Foundation, in collaboration with Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat, Imphal East, Manipur, conducted an awareness talk on organ donation at the Medicine Out-Patient Department (OPD) of JNIMS as part of its ongoing public education and outreach initiatives.
The session was facilitated by Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Imphal.
Ms. Priya opened the session with a brief introduction to the Foundation, followed by an overview of organ donation and its life-saving significance. She explained the organ donation process, outlined the organs and tissues that can be donated, and clearly distinguished between living and deceased donation. She also highlighted the ongoing cornea and kidney transplant programs being implemented at government hospitals in Manipur, including JNIMS and the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS). Addressing common concerns, she clarified myths and misconceptions related to organ donation and reassured participants that no religion prohibits the act of donating organs.
Participants were encouraged to pledge as organ donors and to inform their family members of their decision so their wish to offer the “Gift of Life” would be fulfilled. Informational pamphlets were distributed at the close of the session to enhance understanding.
Approximately 25 participants attended and gained meaningful insights into organ donation and its importance.
