On December 28, 2025, MOHAN Foundation participated in a bicycle rally for organ donation, followed by a mega health camp and health talk. The foundation was represented by Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Project Coordinator (Northeast) and Project Lead (Manipur), Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi and Mr. Victor Rajkumar, Program Executives, MOHAN Foundation, Imphal.
The event, themed “Donate Organs, Save Lives,” was organized by the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, in association with the Rotary Club of Imphal, Manipur Adventure and Mountain Biking Association (MAAMBA), Shija Hospital and Research Institute (SHRI), Babina Diagnostic, R&R Occulus, and Sena Athletes Organization (SAO). The program was held at Kakching Public School, Kakching Wairi. The rally was flagged off from Jubilee Hall, RIMS, to Kakching Public School by Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS. Participants included Prof. N. Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS, members of the Rotary Club of Imphal, and other community members. Cyclists held banners and placards displaying messages encouraging organ donation throughout the ride.
As part of the event, a free health camp was organized with specialist doctors from ENT, Dental, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, and Paediatrics. Diagnostic services and essential medicines were provided free of cost to the public.
During the health talk, Ms. Monica delivered an informative session on organ donation, covering its concept, types, and role in saving lives. She highlighted that renal and corneal transplant procedures are successfully conducted in Manipur. While explaining the concept of brain death, she emphasized that organs from a brain-dead individual can save as many as 8 to 9 lives. She stressed the significance of deceased organ donation, stating that instead of discarding the body after death, donating organs could create a lasting and meaningful impact on others. She also spoke briefly about the Transplantation of Human Organs Act, noting that the buying or selling of organs is strictly prohibited and punishable by law.
Following her talk, Ms. Chongtham Pritam, Medical Social Worker (Assisting Transplant), RIMS, addressed sociological aspects and misconceptions surrounding organ donation. She clarified that most major religions support organ donation, particularly those that value compassion, charity, and saving human lives.
Information pamphlets on organ donation were distributed to attendees. Nearly 300 people participated in the program and gained valuable insights into the importance of organ donation. Five individuals pledged to donate their organs.
