On December 23, 2025, MOHAN Foundation conducted an organ donation awareness session at the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Mantripukhri, Imphal East, Manipur. The session was led by Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Senior Program Executive, and Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation.
The program was organized in coordination with Mr. Kiran, Program Head – AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy). Participants included both healthcare staff and patients visiting the centre.
Ms. Priya opened the session by introducing the concept and importance of organ donation. She explained which organs can be donated and highlighted the distinction between living organ donation and deceased organ donation. She also emphasized the growing need, noting that thousands of patients remain on transplant waiting lists, relying on the compassion and generosity of donors for a second chance at life.
She further elaborated on the process of pledging for organ donation, clarifying that although an individual may register as a donor, family consent remains essential for organ retrieval after death.
Informational pamphlets were distributed to enhance awareness and address questions from attendees. The session successfully reached approximately 15 participants.
