
An awareness programme on deceased organ donation was conducted at Holy Cross Syro Malabar Catholic Church, Chennai on 09th March 2014. MOHAN Foundation got an invitation from Mr. Sebastian, a member of the parish to speak about the importance of Organ Donation. The purpose of the programme was to promote the deceased donation through the parish members.
The programme started with brief introduction by Mr. Sebastian of the parish member. The session was facilitated by Mr. Prakash K. Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai and he spoke about Concept of Organ Donation. In his session he covered following topics: Concept of organ donation, Types of Donations – live and deceased donation, Difference between Coma, Cardiac death and Brain death, Organs & Tissues that can be donated, Importance of Donor Card and Transplant Coordinators Training and helpline service.
At the end of the programme the parish priest gave a vote of thanks all participants. More than 60 members attended the programme and all of them expressed their support to pledge for organ donation and picked donor cards.
