First time ever - Organ donation awareness stall at Raman Science Centre, Nagpur

  • The Raman Science Centre and Planetarium was established in 1989 in Nagpur. On 9 January 2016 for the first time an information stall on Organ Donation was set up in the centre.  Dr. Krishna Kamble,   Retd. Head of the Radiology Department invited to MOHAN Foundation to set an information counter in association with Government Medical College for visitors to the centre.

    The stall was decorated with banner, standees and postersabout organ donation. Information brochures, pledge forms and donor cards were available for the public.  Ms. Kanchan Shewde & Mr. Bulu Behera, organ transplant coordinators of MOHAN Foundation  manned the stall.

    They explained about link between  Brain death and Organ donation..They also explained the processes of eye donation, whole body donation  and kidney transplant. They informed the visitors of the activities on MOHAN foundation and requested the visitors to use MOHAN foundation website and helpline number for more information any time.

     Dr. B. G. Wagmare president of ZTCC and Dr. Krishna Kamble showed their commitment to the cause by being present in the stall. 500 students as well as public attended at the stall. 3 students signed consent form and took donor card.

     The following questions were asked:-

    1. What is the process of Bone Autograft?

    2. What is time duration for organ donation?

    2. What is ZTCC & MOHAN?

    3. How many organ transplant centers are there in Nagpur?
