Students studying in 2nd year Bachelors in Medical Sociology, MMM College of Health Science visited MOHAN Foundation on 11th August 2018 at 10 AM. This field visit was to introduce the 10 student to the work of MOHAN Foundation and understand the concepts of Organ Donation.
Mr. T. S. Siva Shankar, Helpline Executive conducted the session. He first asked the students to write two doubts about Organ Donation. These doubts were checked and discussed later.
Mr. Siva Shankar started to explain the activities of MOHAN Foundation. He made a detailed presentation of the history of the organization, the work done so far and the geographical spread of the organization. He also stressed on what MOHAN Foundation actually wants from students to promote Organ Donation.
He then started to explain the concepts of Organ Donation and its need in the society. He explained the following in detail:
1. Organs and its functions
2. Transplant Law for Organ Donation in India
3. Organs that can be donated in each stage (Living, Cardiac Death and Brain Death)
4. Brain Death and its causes
5. Functions of Brain Stem
6. Myths on Organ Donation
7. Age Criteria in Organ Donation
8. Helpline Number on Organ Donation.
Mr. Siva Shankar conducted a fun quiz on the topic of Organ Donation and medical facts. Students enjoyed the session completely with the quiz. The session went on for 2 hours. The session ended with a discussion of the two questions the students had written early in the session and feedback from the students and group photo.
