An eye donation awareness session was conducted on January 6, 2026, at MatruKrupa Nursing College, Palghar, with the objective of educating nursing students about the importance of eye donation and their potential role in promoting this life-saving cause.
The session was facilitated by Ms. Prachiti Mali, who began by introducing the concept of eye donation and its significance in restoring vision through corneal transplantation. She provided detailed information on corneal blindness, its causes, and the importance of timely donation. The session also covered essential aspects such as eligibility criteria, precautions to be followed, and the process involved in eye donation.
In addition, Ms. Prachiti explained the legal framework governing eye donation, including consent procedures and the role of family members. She also addressed common myths and misconceptions associated with eye donation, offering clear and factual explanations to enhance the understanding of the participants.
The session witnessed encouraging participation from around 100 attendees, reflecting strong interest and engagement from the students. The program received continuous support and cooperation from the Principal and faculty members of the institution.
As an outcome of the session, 27 students came forward to pledge for eye donation, demonstrating their commitment towards supporting this noble cause. The session proved to be informative, interactive, and impactful in creating awareness and motivating future healthcare professionals to advocate for eye donation.
