Awareness Session at Women and Child Development Department office, Palghar

  • An awareness session on eye donation was conducted at the Women and Child Development Department office in Palghar on Monday, 5th January 2026. The session aimed to create awareness among the staff members about the importance of eye donation and to provide accurate information regarding the process.

     

    Ms. Prachiti Mali facilitated the session and began by introducing the concept of eye donation and its significance in restoring vision for individuals suffering from corneal blindness. She explained in detail the causes of corneal blindness, the role and importance of corneal tissue, and the precautions to be considered in the context of eye donation. The discussion also included information about the eligibility criteria, highlighting that there is no strict upper age limit for donating eyes.

     

    Further, the session covered important legal aspects related to eye donation, including consent procedures and the involvement of family members at the time of donation. Ms. Prachiti also addressed various common myths and misconceptions associated with eye donation and clarified them with factual explanations to build better understanding among the participants.

     

    A total of 4 staff members attended the session. Despite the small group size, the participants were attentive and engaged actively in the discussion, making the session informative and meaningful.
