On May 19 2026, an Eye Donation Awareness Session was conducted at Dr. M.L. Dhawale Memorial Trust Hospital, Palghar, with the participation of nearly 50 attendees, including patients, hospital staff, attendants, and visitors. The session aimed to increase awareness about the importance of eye donation and encourage people to support the noble cause of restoring vision to individuals affected by corneal blindness.
The session was facilitated by Mr. Ravi Pawar from the MOHAN Foundation, who shared valuable information regarding eye donation and its social importance. Participants were informed about the causes of corneal blindness, the shortage of eye donors, and how donated corneas can help visually impaired individuals regain sight and improve their quality of life.
Information regarding the eye donation process, eligibility, and the importance of timely donation after death was explained in an easy-to-understand manner. Participants were also informed that individuals of different age groups can donate eyes, making it an act that can benefit many people in need.
An interactive discussion was held during the session where participants expressed curiosity and raised questions related to myths, misconceptions, and practical concerns regarding eye donation.
