Educational visit to Sankara Nethralaya Eye Bank, Chennai.

  • On May 9, 2025, a team of 9 members from MOHAN Foundation, including interns, visited the Sankara Nethralaya Eye Bank. The visit aimed to provide interns and staff of MOHAN Foundation with practical exposure to eye banking and eye donation.

    Ms. Vaishnavi, from Sankara Nethralaya conducted a seminar during the visit. She gave an overview of eye bank operations, the importance of eye donation, and how donated corneas are preserved using solutions like MK medium and Cortisol.

    She also discussed common eye diseases such as corneal blindness, cataract, and glaucoma. The session ended with an interactive Q&A, where interns clarified their doubts and shared observations.

    The visit was informative and helped the interns understand the significance of eye donation and the role of eye banks in restoring vision
